There were some bulls, too

November 2: There's money in volatility and nervousness too. The bearish sentiment in the `moorat' trading session on October 30 failed to affect at least 23 BSE's group A stocks. Another eight scrips stood their ground and were unmoved. On a day when the Mumbai Stock Exchange (BSE) crashed by over 130 points, these scrips weathered the storm and recorded marinal to handsome gains. Market analysts feel that all is not lost and fundamentally sound scrips will find support at low levels. MRF tyres led the pack with a gain of over 8.3 per cent on October 30. Investors seem to have realised the worth of the scrip and pushed up the price from Rs 2011 to Rs 2178 on BSE. In fact the MRF stock had been on a major slide and had lost more than Rs 800 in the past one month. At the current levels, a number of stocks have once again started looking attractive. Hero Honda after a brief lull has again generated support. Hero Honda's scrip on BSE found support at Rs 880 and the scrip shot up by Rs 38 (4.36 per cent) to over Rs 922 on October 30. On NSE too, the scrip stood its ground at Rs 923 with a turnover of Rs 5.25 crore.
