Marketplace Briefing -- Bakeman's unveils premium biscuits

November 4: Bakeman's, the third largest biscuit manufacturer in the country, has launched premium glucose biscuits under the brand name GlucoGold. Unlike the traditional, rectangular glucose biscuits, Glucogold biscuits are round in shape, available at a retail price of Rs 5 per packet. The product comes in attractive gold coloured BOPP packaging, with metallised lamination for a longer shelf life. Glucogold mainly competes with Britannia's Marie biscuit and the recently launched Tiger brand for children in addition to Parle-G. Bakeman's recently introduced shortcakes under the brand name of Butter Yums in two flavours of cashewnut and extra butter, as well as Cookiez in coconut and chocolate flavours. Bakeman's other variety of biscuits available in the market include Original English Marie and Cream Crunch. Herbertsons Regal Crest Whisky: Herbertsons Ltd, the third largest spirits company in the country is relaunching its popular brand Regal Crest Fine Whisky in Maharashtra. This is targeted at building volumes at the lower end of the whisky market. The brand is now being made available to consumers at an market retail price (MRP) of Rs 112 for Quarts (750 ml), Rs 56 for Pints (375 ml) and Rs 28 for nips (180 ml). The brand will sport an elegant packaging popularised through the Regal Crest lions and will contain the popular fine blend. While Herbertsons' new offering President's Pride Whisky, at an affordable price, has earned popularity with consumers, Regal Crest fine whisky will provide further boost to the company's strength in the Indian made foreign liqour industry. Geoffrey Maners 75gram Anne French tube: Geoffrey Manners & Company has introduced Anne French hair removing cream in a 75 grams standi-tube in all metro cities. This easy to squeeze pack is convenient to use and is available in the satin rose fragrance. Anne French hair remover is a softer, safer and smoother way of removing unwanted hair. It contains baby oil which leaves the skin ultra-smooth. Pioneer InfoVision to market MindQ: Pioneer InfoVision, the Mumbai-based Cd-Rom publishing and retrieval technology, has entered into collaboration with MindQ Publishing Inc, USA, the major player in advanced training techniques using multimedia. Under this agreement Pioneer InfoVision will be the exclusive distributor of MindQ multimedia education products in the country and neighbouring countries in south-east Asia. The MindQ method represents a multi-sensory approach to learning that is more holistic in comparison to other conventional methods. The MindQ range of products include -- Hands on programming Using MS Visual C, Internet Product family and MS Office Advantage Interactive series. M&C Export leather furniture: M&C Export Industries, a Bangalore-based textile manufacturer has added an unit `Chester' to manufacture Chesterfield style leather furniture. It has a technical collaboration with M/S Studio Old Classic Leather. M&C Export Industries is promoted by MV Ramaswamy and has its own leather finishing units. The seats are crafted by skilled workmen trained in Holland. Chester's is already being exported to over 6 European countries and plans are afoot to enter the domestic market in the retail and institutional sector. Shortly Chester will be retailed through exclusive showrooms and will be priced between Rs 25,000-Rs 35,000.
