Cabinet okays setting up of hydrocarbon regulatory body

[Details] The cabinet on thursday approved the creation of Hydrocarbon Regulatory and Development Authority. A bill for the constitution of the authority will soon be introduced in the parliament. An official spokesperson said that the authority, recommended by Dasgupta and Kaul committees among others, will perform the functions of an upstream regulatory authority and will incorporate the duties of the Director-General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) set up in 1993.

Ministry to start process to set up Prasar Bharati Board

[Details] The union information and broadcasting ministry is to initiate the process of constituting the much-awaited Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India) board soon following the changes in its composition. Top-level government sources said the selection committee would only have to recommend the appointment of the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) to the corporation.

[Details] The government's move to kick start power projects by waiving the 15 per cent sectoral cap on lending by financial institutions to the power sector projects may not succeed. According to institutional sources, availability of funds has never been a problem for power projects.
