Sensex tumbles 90 points as foreign funds turn sellers

[Details] Panic-selling in the absence of institutional support saw the BSE 30-share Sensitive Index plunge below the 3,700-mark to close at 3,633.18, registering a net loss of 90.22 points or 2.42% over its previous close. The exchange recorded a turnover of Rs 677.40 crore, with the A group contributing Rs 658.59 crore.

OTCEI wholesale debt segment set to go online by next month

[Details] The Over the Counter Exchange of India (OTCEI) is planning to put its wholesale debt segment online by the first week of December. This will be a separate segment which will be called the National debt segment and will comprise debt instruments like government of India securities, PSU bonds and corporate debt instruments.

Applications must furnish bank account numbers: Unit Trust

[Details] The Unit Trust of India (UTI) has decided to make it mandatory for investors to furnish their bank account numbers at the time of applying for its schemes. The move, aimed at curbing the growing instances of fraudulent encashment of cheques, will be introduced with the Monthly Income Plan (V) (MIP-V), slated for launch this month.
