New Thailand cabinet to plan policy for economic revival

Thailand's prime minister Chuan Leekpai and his new cabinet started their first day in office yesterday with a meeting to prepare a government policy plan on tackling the Thai economic turmoil. Chuan is also expected to brief government leaders on his government's plan to revive the battered Thai economy along the line agreed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Singapore not here for short-term gains: Goh

The prime minister Goh Chok Tong of Singapore has expressed disappointment over the long-pending decisions such as undertaking joint Singapore-India business missions to China and Vietnam. He took his own officials to task for the delay, which is partly the result of apprehensions on the Singaporean side that India could emerge as a competitor on the investment front.

Largest Chinese exposition to be held in Dec to boost bilateral trade

China is all set to its largest-ever trade fair in India in December to give a fillip to bilateral trade and bridge the `information gap' existing between the business communities of the two countries. The fair would have exhibits ranging from products representing the latest economic and technological development in China to goods with distinct traditional Chinese characteristics.
