ITC stuns market with Rs 301-crore first-half net

[Details] ITC on Friday reported a 68% rise in net profit at Rs 301.73 crore for the first half ended September 30, 1997, compared with Rs 180.80 crore in the previous corresponding period. Operating profit margins improved to 34.52% from 24.2%. Sales, net of excise, rose by 8% to Rs 1434.92 crore against Rs 1329.11 crore. Gross profit after interest but before depreciation and tax rose by 54.65% to Rs 492.30 crore from Rs 318.33 crore.

Other income comes to Pfizer aid, H1 net dips to Rs 9 crore

[Details] Pfizer Ltd reported a 17% drop in net profit at Rs 9.12 for the six months ended September 30, 1997 as against Rs 11 crore in the previous corresponding period. Net sales fell to Rs 106.17 crore as against Rs 144.27 crore. However, the company's bottomline was shored up by the substantial rise in other income which rose from Rs 10.95 crore to Rs 16.03 crore.

ICI India's first-half net up 30% to Rs 23.3 crore

[Details] ICI India Ltd's net profit for the first six months of the current financial year has jumped 30% to Rs 23.3 crore from Rs 17.9 crore in the corresponding period last year. The company's net sales from operations during the period grew 23% to Rs 353 crore and the combined turnover of the company in the first half of the current fiscal has improved by 16.03% to Rs 369 crore.
