Court directive to aid Allied International's revival plan

Ashok B Sharma

NEW DELHI, Nov 23: A ray of hope dawned on the revival programme of Allied International Products Ltd (AIPL) with the Delhi High Court ordering a list of the company's inventories when it was under the managerial control of the Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI).

AIPL claimed that plant and machinery worth Rs 7.20 crore had been earlier removed from the factory premises by the IFCI management. This rendered the company almost inoperative. AIPL, therefore claimed restitution of the said plant and machinery. In response to the application filed by AIPL, justice Mohamad Shamim ordered the preparation of a list of inventories of the company under the control of IFCI. The list will be prepared in presence of AIPL and IFCI representatives. Date for the next hearing has been fixed on January 13, 1998. AIPL in its application before the court alleged that on September 15, 1997 the receiver, I J Laul appointed by the court in connivance with IFCI officials and its security guards set some company records on fire in the lawns outside the factory premises. It also alleged that documents burnt consisted books of account, store register and technical guide books.
