Sangma summons UF, Cong leaders for discussion
OUR BUREAU
NEW DELHI, November 27: No sooner the BJP and its allies urged the Lok Sabha speaker PA Sangma to re-convene the house on Monday and ensure that conditions are created "for a proper functioning of Parliament", than Sangma decided to summon the United Front and Congress leaders for discussion on Friday morning. Sangma said he had called the leaders of the government and supporting parties to explore possibilities of convening the Lok Sabha next week. Whenever the house assembles, top on the priority would be the no confidence motion moved by Congress MP from West Bengal Mamata Bannerjee, Sangma said. Unlike the previous one this motion has been found in order. He said he had addressed letters to prime minister IK Gujral, leader of the House, railway minister Ram Vilas Paswan, parliamentary affairs minister Srikant Jena, leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha, Sharad Pawar and chief whip of the Congress Santosh Mohan Dev. Sangma said he had given them time in the hope that the impasse would be resolved.
