Sensex zooms 93 points on funds buying

[Details] The 30-share BSE Sensitive Index jumped 93 points yesterday on the back of strong demand by institutional investors, both foreign and domestic, coupled with shortcovering by local operators. The Sensex breached the 3,600-mark to close at 3,628.07, up 92.55 points over its previous close of 3,535.52.

JM asks SEBI for exemption from daily disclosure of bids in Nirma

[Details] JM Financial & Investment Consultancy Services, the book runner for Nirma's public issue, has requested SEBI to grant an exemption from disclosing the status of entries in the book at the end of the day, once the bidding period starts. As per the SEBI guidelines, the book runner has to disclose the demand for the issue on a daily basis.

[Details] Taking a contrarian view, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, the US-based investment banker has said that the market conditions in India may result in "increased participation and hence higher allocation in Indian stocks by the foreign fund managers". According to Jay Pelosky, emerging market strategist, India is a favourite investment destination in the Asian region in view of the relatively low interest rates, favourable government policies and largescale corporate restructuring.
