Cotton board sees higher output

[Details] The Cotton Advisory Board estimates a hike in cotton production in the current year, surpassing the previous year's record output of 176.5 lakh bales. Interestingly, despite delayed crops and an attack of worms, the country's cotton production stood at 169.20 lakh bales till September this year, a rise of 4.3 per cent.

Information kiosks to ignite small business growth

[Details] Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci) is planning to give ready access to its on-line business information to small and medium enterprises (Bisnet), available in more than 50 cities country-wide. Also, the Small Industries Development Bank of India (Sidbi) and Electronic and Software Export Promotion Council (Esc) are working together to encourage small entrepreneurs to set up Internet-based information booths or kiosks.

[Details] Korean companies do not see any adverse fallout of the economic crisis back home on their investment plans for India. Korean giants such as Daewoo, Samsung and LG Electronics said that they have identified India as a big emerging market and investments will continue to flow in as planned.
