Modistone union scores; court seeks corporate guarantee The legal battle between the Modis and the Modistone employees union may soon be resolved. The divisional bench of the Mumbai high court on Wednesday directed Modistone to furnish a corporate guarantee of Rs 7.5 crore for the wages with an undertaking from one of the Modis.
Praxair plans to invest $125 million by 1998 US-based Praxair Inc, the industrial gases giant, plans to invest $125 million in India by the end of 1998. Besides, the company also plans to set up a $25-million plant at Haldia in West Bengal to produce 300 tonnes per day (tpd) of oxygen, 900 tpd of nitrogen and 15 tpd of argon.	Gestetner to shift duplicator manufacturing base to India Gestetner (India) plans to shift its worldwide manufacturing base for electronic duplicators from the UK to India. The Rs 41-crore company has set a sales target of about 1000 to 1200 duplicators in India in 1998 and is likely to begin exports within a year.
