NEW DELHI, Dec 23: The cabinet on Tuesday approved promulgation of an Ordinance to increase the corpus of the Contingency Fund to meet election expenses, wage bill due to the Fifth Pay Commision and certain other expenditure not foreseen at the time of the budget presentation. An official spokesman did not give details of the Ordinance but only said it would give effect to supplementary demands which could not be passed by the Lok Sabha because of its dissolution. The Cabinet also approved repromulgation of five ordinances that could not be replaced by a bill due to the dissolution of the lower house. They are Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India) Amendment Ordinance, Income Tax (Second Amendment) Ordinance, Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions (Amendment) Ordinance and Payment of Gratuity (Amendment) Ordinance.
