CALCUTTA, Dec 23: The Roamer brand of Swiss watches was relaunched in Calcutta on Tuesday. Earlier this month, the brand was relaunched in other cities like Delhi, Bangalore and Lucknow. The brand makes a comeback after more than 30 years. Nino India Pvt Ltd of the Chainani group will import the watches in semi-knocked down condition and assemble them in India. "We are targeting the lower segment of the high end of the market. The price range of the 100-odd models that we plan to market now is between Rs 3,500 and 17,000. However most of the models are between Rs 3,500 and Rs 6,000 and are targeted at the younger generations," a company source said. It plans to sell around 18,000 watches in the first year and is speaking to retailers in all the cities for the purpose. "We want to go slow on this and would like to select retailers who would understand the value of a Roamer," he said. Nino India also markets another premium brand, the Piaget, that is targeted at the highest segment of the higher end, the minimum price being Rs 2,20,000. The Roamer brand will be available at an exhibition at the Identity Gallery in Ballygunge. Nino has tied up with a city retailer for subsequent display and sale.
