CAG pulls up Tea Board for misuse of govt funds towards research projects

[Details] The Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG) has come down heavily on the Tea Board for sanctioning government funds under the eighth five-year plan for research projects which have the same objectives. The CAG has criticised the board's non-commitment towards undertaking any kind of periodic assessment of the five research & development schemes during the eighth five-year plan.

[Details] The Congress was on the defensive on the spate of desertions from its ranks and issued a veiled warning to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against admitting them to its fold.
