Rs 5,594 crore mobilised via FCCB, GDR issues![[Details]](/icons/bullet.gif){kind=icon} Domestic corporates mobilised Rs 5,594 crore through foreign currency convertible bonds (FCCBs) and global depository receipts (GDRs) in 1996-97. The impetus for raising such offshore funds by domestic corporates was provided by the sluggishness in bourses.

National Chemical Labs tops chart for highest number of patents The National Chemical Laboratory is heading for yet another pathbreaking record in terms of highest number of patents filed by any scientific lab in the country. During the current year, the laboratory has already filed a total of 94 patents which is nearly one third of around 300 patents totally filed for the year.

SCI, RCF plan venture for fertiliser transport The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) plans to enter into a joint venture with the state-run Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilisers. Under the terms of the agreement, SCI will transport fertiliser, urea and liquid cargo imported by RCF. Three proposals are under the consideration of the committee which had been formed for this purpose.
