Cheminova to launch new pesticidesCheminova Agro A/S of Denmark, which recently acquired the entire assets of Lupin Agrochemicals, proposes to introduce three new pesticides in the Indian market- methyl parathion, glyphosates and dimethoate. This was revealed by R S Vaid, the managing director of Cheminova India (the new name for Lupin Agro). Glyphosates was one of the major products of Cheminova and the leading herbicide in terms of global sales.

Titan Industries ranked first: Titan Industries has been ranked first in two of the five categories by The Far Eastern Economic Review's Asia's leading companies. Titan was ranked first for the fourth consecutive year for two categories - high quality of services and products and innovation in responding to clients' needs -, a Tata Services release said. Titan has also moved up in the overall ranking from sixth to fifth, the release added.

NDDB bags Rs 1.65-crore export order: National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) has bagged Rs 1.65 crore overseas contract for supply of trivalent foot and mouth disease vaccine. Indian Immunologicals, a NDDB unit, engaged in production and marketing of veterinary vaccines, animal health products and feed supplement, bagged the order for exporting 8.5 lakh doses of the medicine to Syria. This is the single largest order obtained by any veterinary biologicals manufacturer in India, an NDDB release said. The unit manufactured 182 lakh doses of vaccine, 9.9 lakh units of animal health products and 32 tonnes of feed supplements in the current fiscal year.

Indian immunologicals have also been exporting vaccines to south asia and west asian countries.

AAI to increase route navigation: Airports Authority of India (AAI) is to increase route navigation and overflying charges for international airlines by 30 per cent in two phases with effect from February one next.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has approved a hike of 22.5 per cent in 1998 and a 7.5 per cent increase for 1999, AAI chairman Ranjan Chatterjee said. The step would help in meeting the additional cost in providing improved air traffic services over the Indian air space, he said.

Lack of funds bogs IDPL: IDPL (Tamil Nadu) Ltd, a wholly-owned life-saving drug manufacturing subsidiary of Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd near Chennai, is in dire need of an infusion of working capital to stay afloat. This, however, is not the only concern bogging the skeleton staff of the unit, which originally had more than a thousand workers, as they are also against formation of a joint venture with private promoters to revive the unit.

Cement firms hike retail price: Major cement players in south hiked retail cement prices by Rs 5 per bag last week. This is the second such price hike in about a month's time and has pushed up tags, in the case of most brands, to levels slightly higher than what they were in early September. Analysts interpret this as a move to recover some of the increased cost of inputs. This price increase comes at a time when the offtake has reportedly fallen sharply in November and December.

QAD takes over software from Primus: US-based QAD, a leading Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) provider, has taken over Solution Builder and Solution Publisher software from Primus. QAD will deploy the Solution Builder to support its main product, MFG Pro, which provides an integrated global supply chain management solutions that includes manufacturing, distribution, financial and service management applications with an open systems environment. Solution Builder is a problem solution software that increases customer satisfaction.

Prima Plastics bags export award: Prima Plastics Limited (PPL) has won the top export award from PLEXCONCIL in moulded furniture for the best export performance for the year 1996-97. PPL offers exclusive designs in "European Style" moulded furniture. Rakshpal elected BSSIA president: Rakshpal Abrol has been elected as the president of the Bombay Small Scale Industries Association (BSSIA). At its 10th annual general meeting, Pradeep Mahanol was elected the general secretary.
