Rajeev Bakshi has been appointed managing director designate of Cadbury India Ltd.

Bakshi is currently based in United Kingdom as the international confectionery marketing director -- Africa and Asia. His new appointment comes into effect on January 1, 1998.

Prior to his international appointment, Bakshi was sales and marketing director of Cadbury India and based in Mumbai.

Bakshi, a alumni of Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore, takes over from current managing director and chief executive officer J M Robertson, who will retire mid-1998.

Biswas wins international honour

Dilip Biswas, chairman, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has been conferred with the International Felicitation Award for his contribution in the areas of planning, development and environment protection.

The CPCB as an organisation, has also been conferred the Felicitation Award for its contribution to environmental protection.

The award is instituted by the World Environment Congress and its NGO affiliates. The awards were distributed by former President Shankar Dayal Sharma on the occasion of the 50th year of Independence at the World Environment Congress, which recently concluded in Delhi. Education,a $140 million non-profit international exchange agency.

Pathiyan to be Orchid general manager

Vivek Pathiyan has joined The Orchid as general manager. He has been working in the hotel industry for 21 years. His exposure to the various functions of a hotel has made him as effective time and people manager, claims the hotel. Before joining the Orchid, Pathiyan was working with the Ramada Palm Grove. He has also worked with the Oberoi, Marriiot overseas and Leila.

The Orchid, Mumbai's latest five star, is Asia's first certified eco-friendly hotel, having been certified by HVS eco services.
