Mahindra Ford to display new models

Mahindra Ford India will showcase the latest Ford cars including the Mondeo, the KA and the Puma at the Auto Expo 1998 here. In addition to this, the new concept car, GT90, will also be on display along with the model A, representing the transition that has been made from 1903 to 1997. The Ford Escort range represented by the 1.8 diesel, the 1.6 petrol and the SI sport version will also be on display. Mahindra Ford also announced that the 1.6 litre version of the Ford Escort would be launched later in the year. Jim Johnston, vice president, marketing and sales, Mahindra Ford made the announcement. The company manufactures the Ford Escort in two versions, the 1.3 litre petrol and the 1.8 litre diesel. "This will be in addition to our portfolio under the Ford Escort brand ," said Johnston." The new 16 valve, double over head camshaft (dohc), 1.6 litre, Zetec petrol engine will be of state-of-the-art technology," he added.Ex-Canadian envoy to arbitrate Centre-Suzuki dispute Former Canadian envoy to
the United Nations Yves Fortier will head the three-member panel of the International Council of Arbitration (ICA) to settle the dispute between the government and the Suzuki Motor Corporation over Maruti Udyog Limited. Fortier's name was finalised by the ICA secratariat a couple of days back and the same was conveyed to the government on Monday, highly placed government sources said. With this appointment, the stage has been set for arguing out the case before the Paris-based dispute settlement body, they said. The arbitration is on the dispute over the appointment of the managing director to MUL in which both the partners have 50 per cent equity each. Former Chief Justice of India Y V Chandrachud is representing the government, while Suzuki has nominated Lord Mustell to the arbitration panel. The government had sent a detailed clause-by-clause reply to the petition filed by Suzuki at ICA in September last.
