Agashe ready to quit FTII
Mohan Agashe, director of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) is a dejected man, thanks to a few of the influential students at the FTII who are pressurising the veteran regarding implementation of the revised syllabus. Mohan Agashe has expressed his willingness to step down if either Jaya Bachan, Mani Kaul or Kumar Sahni would agree to take his place.

Carl Perkins dies at 65
Carl Perkins, a rock 'n roll pioneer whose song "Blue Suede Shoes" and lightning-quick guitar-playing influenced Elvis Presley, the Beatles and a slew of other performers, died. He was 65. Complications resulting from Perkins three strokes in November and December took the last breathe out of him on January 19.

Gaach, a French tribute to Ray's best man, Soumitra
It took a French woman, Catherine Berge to pay a tribute to the master Satyajit Ray and his films. "Gaach" (tree) a documentary featuring one of the most popular film and theatre artiste in Bengal, Soumitra Chatterjee was up for screening at the film festival in India.

A people painter
