Delhi, Israel probe areas in sharing information
OUR BUREAU
PUNE, Jan 28: Indo-Israeli co-operation is all set to achieve a major boost as the two countries are exploring areas of information sharing. Known for its expertise in irrigation systems and water management, Israel is keen to share the knowledge acquired over the years, said Tsvi Alon, deputy director general, ministry of Agriculture, Israel. He was speaking at the launch of a new drip irrigation system "Hydrogol", which is part of the expansion plans of the first-ever Indo-Israeli joint venture, Plastro Irrigation Systems (I) Ltd.Walid Mansour, counsel general of Israel, Mumbai, regretted that in the absence of a proper medium of exchange, information sharing was often incomplete. A training centre of this nature would overcome this shortfall, he hoped. Israel also intends to set up a demonstration farm in the country. The project, spread over 14 hectares near Delhi, will serve as a model for applying research and development (R&D) activities to the field, said Zvi Herman, an official in the ministryof agriculture.
