Balakesari is Railways secretary

K Balakesari, a member of Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME), has taken over as Member (Staff), Railway Board and ex-officio Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Railways.

Balakesari succeeds V K Agarwal who has been elevated as Railway Board Chairman and ex-officio Principal Secretary to the Government in the Ministry of Railways.

Earlier, Balakesari was General Manager, Central Railway and South-Central Railway and Officer on Special Duty, South Central Railway at Bangalore,one of the six newly created railway zones.

Born on October 27, 1941, Balakesri has held several important positions in the Railways as Secretary Railway Board, Chief Mechanical Engineeer, Central Railway, Chief Rolling Stock Engineer, South Railway and Divisional Railway Manager Solapur on Central Railway. He also undertook a foreign assignment as an expert consultant to Aqaba Railway Corporation, Jordan during March 1983-August 1987.

MahindraFord wins J D Power awards

J D Power & Associates presented the India Initial Quality Survey 1997 and India Customer Study 1997 awards to Mahindra Ford India Limited. The awards were presented to John G Parker, President and Managing Director, Mahindra Ford, by James D Power IV, partner, J D Power & Associates. ``These awards are a tribute to the manufacturing team at Nashik plant as well as the dealers and suppliers who have given us world class service and components,'' said Mr Parker on receiving the awards.

Bhasin new northern head of Trafalgar House

Pawan Bhasin was recently appointed the Chief Executive of the northern region business group of Trafalgar House Construction India Limited. He will be based in New Delhi. Prior to this assignment, he was heading the marketing division of the business group.

An engineering graduate from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Bhasin has been working with the organisation for the past eight years.

Computer audit expertclears CISA

Rakesh M Goyal, has passed the internationally acclaimed Certified Information Systems Auditor(CISA) examination with 96 percentile marks and 4th rank in the world.

The Certified Information Systems Auditor examination is conducted by Information Systems Audit and Control Association(ISACA), located at Illinois, USA. It is the only body in the world, which certifies Computer Audit professionals. CISA certification has world wide recognition.

CISA examination is held once every year in the month of June. The examination has 200 objective type questions, to be answered in 4 hours covering almost all aspects of information technology, audit and security.
