  Bank of Baroda contests RBI communique on FII holdings
The Bank of Baroda has disputed the Reserve Bank of India announcement that FIIs' holdings in the bank have touched 16%. According to sources, the FIIs' holding is not more than 8 to 9 per cent in the bank.
  Sinclair seeks tie-ups in telecom industry
Sinclair Technologies, a $40 million company based in Canada, is scouting for a joint venture partner in India to manufacture and market their technology in the country. The joint venture would be a technology transfer agreement, with the Indian manufacturer using the Sinclair technology to manufacture the equipment.

BoI in talks with NBFCs for securitising assets
Bank of India (BoI) is in talks with a number of non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) with good asset portfolio's for securitising their assets. However, the bank has not finalised anything so far as RBI has given an assurance to the NBFCs that it will relax some of the prudential norms.
Samsung India targets Rs 650cr turnover
Samsung India Electronics Ltd is targeting a turnover of Rs 650 crore from its operations in 1998. The company jumped its turnover to Rs 400 crore in 1997 from Rs 156 crore in 1996. Samsung has entered the eastern sector after gradually launching its products in the other parts of the country.

Cisco Systems, Fujitsu to share multimedia technology
Cisco Systems, one of the leading IT companies for networking on Internet, and Fujitsu have signed a global systems integrator agreement where the latter would sell and support the former's products worldwide. The two companies will also cooperate to provide optimum end to end solutions to the market, focusing on the rapidly expanding worldwide demand for network computing.

Sage to invest $10m in local arm expansion
The US-based Sage Inc plans to invest around $10 million over a period of three years in its local subsidiary -- Sage Design Systems India. The Indian arm of the US firm is currently in negotiations with Technology Development & Investment Corporation of India (TDICI) to raise funds for the proposed expansion.
