IA management threatens to shut shop: The Indian Airlines˙management on Saturday threatened to close down its operations if the aircraft engineers did not not call-off their week-long agitation. Official sources in Delhi said the agitation was continuing, "disrupting flight operations in many parts of the country". Army to prune soldier strength: Army chief general VP Malik on Saturday said that the army will scale down its soldier strength by 50,000 in the next two years. The funds available as a result ofthe reduction will be utilised elsewhere, Gen Malik said, adding that the 50,000 personnel would be adjusted in other places.
