Corporate honour for RR Basu

Radha Rama-swami Basu, general manager of Hewlett Packard's Enterprise Solutions Organization based in California, has been awarded the Excelsior Leadership Award for her outstanding achievements in the corporate world.

The Excelsior Leadership Awards were established to honour Indian Americans who are in the forefront of fields such as academia, finance, media, publishing and technology and serve as role models for the entire community.

The award recognises the achievements and acknowledges the pivotal role and contributions of successful, highly visible Indian-Americans within the larger mainstream community. In 1995, Basu received the 1995 Woman of Achievement Award for ``providing leadership and vision and being a role model in the corporate field''. This award is sponsored by the Women's Fund of Santa Clara County and San Jose Mercury News. Basu has the worldwide responsibility in HP for middle-ware technology, mission critical solutions and software services toHP's customers, channel partners and internal entities. As software manager for HP, she runs development teams in California, Colorado, England, Germany, Switzerland, India, Japan and Australia.

Bansal is JMFICS president

V K Bansal recently took charge as president of JM Financial & Investment Consultancy Services Limited. As president, Bansal will be responsible for devising corporate strategy, managing client relationships and overseeing various service groups and business development.

A chartered accountant by profession, Bansal worked with the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) for 18 years prior to joining JM Financial in 1994 as senior vice president. As senior VP, Bansal has been advising large corporate houses and Indian financial institutions and has also initiated and coordinated various public sector undertaking relationships. He was also actively involved in international fund raising transactions for Indian corporates.
