Kesri, Sonia to share campaign stage

Congress president Sitaram Kesri and the party's star campaigner Sonia Gandhi, whom he has described as the ``focal point of power'' in the organisation, would share the stage at public meetings in Nagpur on February 14 and Mumbai on February 22. The announcement was made on Sunday by the state Pradesh Congress Committee.

Thackeray vows to develop Vidarbha: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Sunday promised to develop the Vidarbha region and said that he would be responsible to Vidarbhites for developing it. ``It is a gentleman's promise by me. I will be responsible to Vidarbhites for developing the region,'' Thackeray said.

Mumbai north-east electorate size down: Mumbai north-east, which has been left with the single largest number of 23 candidates in the fray among the 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra after the last date of withdrawals on Saturday, has ironically recorded a reduction in the electorate size by 7,770 voters. This keyconstituency, from where BJP national general secretary Pramod Mahajan is seeking a second term, is also the only one among the six Mumbai constituencies to record a decrease in the number of voters.

LKM data link inaugurated: The 64 KBPS leased circuit for data transmission was inaugurated at LKM (India) Ltd, situated at Sarole, 45 kms away from Pune. The line was inaugurated by Ole Petersen, president, LKM Denmark. LKM India is a joint venture between Pune-based Alfa Laval (India) and Alfa Laval LKM Denmark. The joint venture manufactures flow equipment such as centrifugal pumps, valves and fittings.

MCCI invites entries: Mahratta Chamber of Commerce and Industries is inviting applications for the GS Parkhe Industrial Merit Awards-1998 for innovative product/ process/design or import substitute items. Entries are also invited for the Hari Malini Joshi Award for new products and designs and the Ramabai Joshi Award for women entrepreneurs.
