Mumbai, Feb 10: All voluntary disclosure of income scheme (VDIS) '97 certificates will be issued by February 20, according to a Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) directive.The directive has asked income-tax departments to swing into action and issue certificates in all "usual" as well as "unusal" cases. Investigation, if any, can be made at the assessment stage. The circular follows complaints from various quarters stating that the declarants were summoned again for clarifications. According to sources, the main cause of delay is the workload on the certificate issuing authorities who are also burdened with meeting revenue targets and other time-barred matters.
