And taking advantage of this demand are furniture designers -- the "creative engineers", who need to be trained in design planning and precision engineering for shaping products, creating effects and maintaining functionality.
  Sony Computer develops personal digital assistant
Sony Computer Entertainment Inc, a unit of Sony Corp has developed a miniature personal digital assistant (PDA) that can download data from its popular PlayStation games console. The new product will be about the same size as Bandai Co Ltd's hit toy, the virtual pet tamagotchi, and has functions like a handheld game player.

B-schools stranded by recruitment freeze
Placement is not one of the reasons why bright young kids make a beeline for B-schools, it is the only reason. B-schools usually take pride in their placement records and prominently display their list of traditional recruiters as medals of honour. Unfortunately, jobs this year did a classic Houdini disappearing act and left nothing for the colleges to pin on their chest.
Overseas buyers flock to Delhi carpet fair
The four-day Carpet Expo India'98 has generated business worth Rs 300 crore, in addition to business worth Rs 10 crore under negotiation, according to an official release. The expo was organised by the All India Carpet Trade Fair Committee under the aegis of the Development Commissioner for Handicrafts in the Union textiles ministry.

Picadilly develops mercantile banking software
Patasanstha, a new customised software for mercantile banking, has been released by Picadilly Computers (India) Pvt Ltd. It derives its name from the small credit cooperative societies called Patasansthas which do not come under the purview of the Reserve Bank of India. The software has incorporated features like new account opening which includes savings, fixed and recurring deposits.

Dispute on claimed amount can be taken to arbitrator
There is no cover for insurance claims. The claimant may not get a reasonable settlement or the settlement could be delayed. It's very important for the consumer to adhere to the stipulated procedure, and complete the necessary formalities before filing a claim to rule out such an eventuality.
