New Delhi, February 23: The United Nations conference on trade and development (UNCTAD) has released the fourth issue of its Trains CD-Rom, the most comprehensive trade information system ever produced.It can be compared to an interactive library containing 100 volumes of tariff schedules, 45 of which are for the year 1997, 30 volumes with para-tariff measures, 50 publications on non-tariff measures, compiled by UNCTAD, one hundred schedules with historical data on tariff and non-tariff measures, and 100 volumes of detailed import statistics by origin for 69 reporting countries, some of which are for the five successive years since 1992.
Trains, which stands for Trade Analysis and Information System, helps increase transparency in international trading system, according to the Geneva-based UNCTAD release.
