Pune, February 23: Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (MEC), the second largest CNC manufacturer in the world, has identified India as a potential market and expects a growth in number of users from 300 to more than 1,000 installations within the next three years. The company has appointed the Pune-based Messung Systems as its official aftersales service centre in the country. The facility in Pune is part of the company's global service network for servicing its CNC products."The centre will offer spare part stock and service support to all original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and end-users, besides acting as a repair centre for Mitsubishi's CNC products," Messung Systems managing partner Farook Merchant said.
The service centre is the first step to "getting a first-hand idea about the machine-tool market in the country", MEC Nagoya Works numerical control department manager T Aiba said.
Globally, MEC is an exclusive supplier of CNC controllers to Yamakazi, a leading exporter of CNC machines to India. With Yamakazi likely to set up its office in the country soon, Aiba was confident that the decision to set up a service centre will prove to be sound.
