  Eastern Coalfields heads for Rs 500-crore loss
Eastern Coalfields, the largest subsidiary of Coal India, is likely to report a loss of Rs 500 crore in 1997-98 fiscal, with the production now projected to drop further to 28 million tonnes.
  Mhitraa may turn tie-up with German firm into JV
MOC Danner GmbH Cleanline Systems of Germany which had signed a technical tie-up with Mhitraa Engineering Equipment of India last year, is likely to turn the alliance into a joint venture (JV) soon. The details of the equity participation and market penetration strategies are yet to be worked out.

UG Hotels and Resorts plans projects in Delhi, Mussoorie and Nainital
Delhi-based UG Hotels and Resorts has drawn up plans to open four-star hotels in Delhi, Mussoorie and Nainital. The company, which owns and operates a five-star resort near Shimla, has already bought land for the proposed hotels.
Godrej HI Care sets up unit for exports of household insecticide products
Godrej HI Care, the 49:51 joint venture between Godrej Soaps and Sara Lee of US, has set up an export division to undertake export of its household insecticide products to countries excluding the Gulf. Export activities have already been kicked off.

Hughes Ispat kicks off market research on demand for quality telephone services
Just a few months before the launch of its basic telephone services in the Mumbai-Pune region, Hughes Ispat (HIL), the basic services licence holder for Maharashtra, has kicked off a market research to ascertain the demand for quality telephone services.

German tool maker looking for a partner
Germany's largest machine tool (MT) maker, Trumpf gmbh and Co Maschinenfabrik, is scouting for a joint venture partner. It is keen to make an initial investment of 5 million deustche mark and wants to set foot in India at the earliest.
