February 27: Trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange On-line Trading System (BOLT) has reached 33 per cent of total trading, according to BSE president M G Damani. Of the total 104,073 trades on the exchange on Thursday, 32,629 trades were transacted through the BOLT. Also of the total 1,592 scrips traded, 1,049 were active on the BOLT, he told reporters here on Friday. In value terms, it amounted to 18-20 per cent of the total trade on the bourse, Damani said, adding ``Every day we are recording higher trading figure on the BOLT and this is a good sign''.
Meanwhile, BSE has signed a MoU with seven regional stock exchanges for the expansion of its on-line trading system. BOLT expansion to Pune, Calcutta, Rajkot, Ahmedabad, Baroda, Madya Pradesh and Madras would be complete by April, subject to clearance from Sebi, he said.
Admitting that trading in the B2 segment was poor, he said, a total of 3,874 scrips with a paid-up value of Rs 110,000 crore was not traded, compared to just 2,199 scrips in January1997.
