Calcutta port seeks expert advice on dredging

Calcutta, Mar 3: The Calcutta Port Trust has sought a second opinion on the dredging measures it is undertaking to improve the navigability of the river Hooghly. The University of Hamburg, Germany, to whom the port referred the measures, has submitted its preliminary report on it.The final report by the university is expected some time in October this year, after which the port will approach the union government for sanction of the various schemes that have been drawn up.
