Select pivotals gained moderately on good investment support from foreign funds and domestic institutions at the National Stock Exchange on Monday.The NSE extended trading timings by half-an-hour from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm to compensate the loss of connectivity on the very small aperture terminals (vsats) faced by members on account of the `sun outage' reported by NOCC (Network Operations Control Centre), DOT (Department of Telecom) between 11.03 am to 11.30 am.
The NSE has decided to close trading temporarily between 11.00 am till 11.30 am from March 9 to March 18, 1998 and extend the trading timings from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm during these days.
The nse-50 opened at 1081.95, touched a high of 1100.40 and closed at 1099.50, showing a rise of 18.05 over the previous close of 1081.45. The dollar nse-50 (defty) opened at 949.55, rose to a high of 965.35 and closed at 964.55, with a gain of 15.45 over the previous close of 949.10. The midcap opened at 1231.80, rose to a high of 1254.90 and closed at 1252.10,with a gain of 20.95 from the last close of 1231.15.
The total volume was Rs 1591.00 crore from 682.43 lakh shares and in 1,89,793 trades. Debentures' traded value was Rs 182.86 lakh. About 99 securities had hit their price bands today, the nse said.
