CALCUTTA, Mar 19: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) plans to introduce two insurance schemes for the benefit of cricketers soon. BCCI president Raj Singh Dungarpur told reporters here that the first scheme was an accident insurance scheme for all cricketers participating in the tournaments conducted by the board covering death or injury while playing a match or while in transit before or after a match.He said that the board planned to designate the scheme as `Raman Lamba Scheme' in memory of the former Indian test cricketer who died of a head injury while playing a match at Dhaka recently.
The second scheme would cover all retired first-class cricketers on the lines of medicare in order to provide them economic security against illness after their retirement, he said.
