NEW DELHI, Mar 19: The newly constituted 43-member council of ministers gives fair representation to all regions and castes in the country, claims BJP general secretary K N Govindacharya. He told newsmen at the party's central office soon after the swearing-in ceremony that the ministerial berths were allocated on the basis of four factors. ``The prime minister has given representations to all regions,'' he said. In addition the social factor (read caste) has been kept in mind alongwith the person's seniority and ability, he underscored.
While important allies such as AIADMK, Samta Party and BJD find a fair representation in the council of ministers it was necessary to give ministerships to new entrants as well, he said. A relatively new entrant like Yashwant Sinha and a very recent saffron convert Rangarajan Kumaramangalam have been included to complete the complex matrix where region, caste, seniority and ability had to be taken into account, Govindacharya said.
He said the ministry is not tilted toany side, no favourites were included.``There are no power centres in the party who have got a disproportionate representation in the council,'' he added.
