De Beers eyes diamond prospecting in Andhra, Orissa
NEW DELHI, Mar 19: Global diamond mining giant De Beers is keen in taking active part in diamond mining prospects in Orissa and Andhra Pradesh, the south African firm's executive director Anthony E Oppenheimer has said."We wish to take active interest in all diamond prospecting in India, particularly Orissa and Andhra Pradesh," Oppenheimer said.The mining giant had an open mind about India and was looking at the current industry scenario positively, he said. Asked about its bid on diamond prospecting in newly-found mines in Raipur district in Madhya Pradesh, he said De Beers had heard that its request had been reportedly turned down."Still we have an open mind on dimaond prospecting in Madhya Pradesh," Oppenheimer said.
