New civil aviation minister Ananth Kumar, who assumed office yesterday, will take a fresh look at the Rs 1,475-crore Tata Airlines proposal and other major projects in the civil aviation sector. He further maintained that he favoured "complete transparency" in policy-making and execution.
  Maharashtra government regularises Kamala Mill illegal construction
The Maharashtra government, in a significant development, has regularised the illegal construction carried out by the Kamala Mills, violating the Development Control Rules (DC). The mill has paid a hefty penalty worth Rs 30 lakh to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

RBI under pressure to review finance companies' norms
The Reserve Bank of India is under pressure to dilute its hardline stance on non-banking finance companies (NBFCs). It is learnt that the right wing BJP-led government at the centre has pressed for a review of the Reserve Bank of India's guidelines on the sector.

Tea Board chairman faces flak for allowing DTA sale of imported tea
Tea Board chairman SS Ahuja is under severe criticism for taking a unilateral decision allowing sale of imported tea in the domestic market through export-oriented units (EOUs) and export processing zones (EPZs) under the domestic tariff area (DTA) sale scheme.

Dip in forwards may fuel rush for FCNR(B) loans
The crash in the six-month forward premiums is likely to trigger corporate rush for short-term FCNR(B) loans which have recently lost the sheen on account of high hedging costs. The six-month forward premiums (annualised) dipped by over six percentage points over the last one month.
