  Maharashtra may rake in Rs 1,550 cr from rejigged stamp-duty\
Even as property values are heading south, the Maharashtra government has pushed up property-valuation rates to rake in more revenues through stamp duty. The state government has set itself a hefty target of Rs 1,550 crore as collections from stamp duty and registration charges for the financial year ending, March 31, 1998.
  Dunlop scouts for asset buyers in two metros
Ailing tyre-maker Dunlop India Ltd has appointed solicitors Crawford Bailey in Mumbai and Orr Dignam in Calcutta to find a buyer for its prime assets in the two cities. The company, which applied to the Board for Industrial & Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) in January, informed the Department of Company Affairs (DCA) on March 13 about its bid to raise cash by selling real estate.

"ONGC Mumbai region achieves production target before schedule"
The Mumbai region of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has achieved the production targets of oil, gas, condensate, liquefied-natural gas (LPG) and natural-gas liquid (NGL) ahead of schedule, ranging from nearly three months to 12 days for different products.
Braun in talks with local firms for entry into parenteral market
The $2-billion German multinational Braun has initiated talks with a host of domestic companies including Wockhardt and the Ahmedabad-based Core group for a possible alliance to enter the Rs 300-crore parenteral market. The company plans to make entry into the segment either through an acquisition, equity participation or a manufacturing alliance.

Sterlite raises offer price for Indal stake
Sterlite Industries has revised upward its offer price for picking up a 20% stake in Indian Aluminium (Indal) to Rs 115 per share from Rs 90 offered earlier, nine per cent more than the counter bid made by Alcan Aluminium, the principal shareholder of Indal.
HCL may drag Compaq to advertising watchdog over personal-computer blitz
HCL is planning to move the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) against arch-rival Compaq, charging the latter with issuing misleading advertisements to promote its personal computers (PCs). HCL and Compaq have been involved in a bitter price war over the past couple of weeks.
