  Planning Commission clears projects for Rajasthan
The Planning Commission has approved important development projects for Rajasthan. The projects -- the Sukli medium irrigation project estimated to cost Rs 18,698 crore, Bandi sendra medium irrigation project Rs 13.041 crore, modernisation of Gambhiri canal system to cost Rs 1176.26 lakh and Bisalpur drinking water-cum-irrigation scheme to cost Rs 309.07 crore.
  Centre plans panel to speed up core-sector clearances
The BJP-led coalition government is setting up an inter-ministerial panel to clear all core-sector proposals which have been hanging fire for a long time. The move is seen as an attempt to infuse life into long-dormant infrastructure products. The panel will consist of secretaries from all ministries concerned and will clear projects within a fixed timeframe. It will be in a nature of a "high-powered single-window clearing body" for core-sector projects.

Harried promoters may lobby with Ramamurthy to push through shares buyback
A high-powered industry lobby plans to approach company affairs minister K Ramamurthy over introduction of shares' buyback to protect promoters. There is a strong lobby, comprising individual entrepreneurs close to the ruling party and industry-chamber top-notchers, which seeks to immediately introduce buyback of shares so that promoters are protected from huge openoffer bids against their managements.
Barnala warns of strict measures on dumping
The Centre will not allow dumping of chemicals by foreign companies at any cost. The new chemicals and fertiliser minister Surjit Singh Barnala said that any activity harming the interests of the domestic industry would be dealt with sternly. Critical of the role of international industrial houses responsible for dumping, Barnala said their activities would be scrutinised. "They will be watched and I shall see to it that their activities are quickly curbed, instead of being encouraged."
