Natural Textiles enters Pune market

PUNE, March 30: The Bangalore-based Natural Textiles Ltd recently launched its entire range of inner and housewear for men and women in Pune. This follows its Mumbai launch last month.

NTL, a 50:50 joint venture between Calida AG of Switzerland and Phulchand Exports Ltd. set up over two years ago, with an investment of Rs 10 crore and a production capacity of 2.5 million pieces per annum has recently entered the domestic market, since they had exports to Europe. Natural Textiles managing director Rashmi Thakeria, said they would target the Rs 800 crore branded premium segment of inner wear in the total Indian market of about Rs 3,000 crore. At present, the company has launched 39 items in four broad categories while a range of children's sizes would be launched next year.

Marketing will be through retail outlets as well as through franchisee stores, called Calidascope.

There is presently one such outlet in Bangalore while one each in Mumbai and Pune could be set up in the next six months.

NTL plans tohave about 100 retail outlets in Mumbai and over 50 premium counters in Pune. Natural Textiles Ltd plans to reach all metros and mini metros within the next 18 months.

The company has projected a turnover of Rs 10 crore in 1998-99.
