ACC's R&D centre bags ISO 9001 badge

ACC's research and engineering centre has bagged the ISO 9001 certification. The company's research and consultancy directorate has been certified by the TUV CERT for establishing and applying a quality system in the areas of research and development, engineering, turnkey consultancy, construction services, exploration and training. The certificate is an accredition of Rheinisch-Westfalischer Tecnical Uberwangs Verein (RWTUV), Germany.

L&T, ABB Lumus sign licensing agreements: Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) and ABB Lummus Heat Transfer BV, a group company of ABB Lummus Global, have entered into two licencing agreements for engineering, design and manufacture of breechlock heat exchangers for high pressure and high temperature applications and helixchangers. L&T has manufactured and supplied breechlick type of heat exchangers for plants at Indian Oil Corporation, Baroda, IOCL, Panipat and Numaligarh refinery among others. According to L&T this will also provideopportunities for it to export these critical heat exchangers.

HCL'c Chennai, Coimbatore facilities get ISO 9001 certification:

HCL Infosystems Ltd, the flagship company of the $600-million HCL group, has announced that its professional services organisation's (PSO) facilities at Chennai and Coimbatore have been awarded the ISO 9001 certification. The dual certification awarded by Quality Cert India Pvt Ltd on behalf of RVA of Netherland and Cetecom GmbH of Germany encompasses analysis, design, construction, testing, delivery and maintenance of enterprise-wide commercial application software.

Citil signs deal with Federal Bank:

Citicorp Information and Technology Industries Ltd (Citil) has signed a multi-crore deal with the Federal Bank of the Middle East Ltd in Cyprus for its latest product, Flexcube. The deal includes Moneymaker, Citil's dealing room system and Customer Access, the company's electronic-banking system. Citil chief R Ravishankar said, the product is a comprehensive andintegrated automation solution for the entire corporate-banking operations of a bank. It covers foreign exchange, money market, commercial loans, deposits, letters of credit, export and import bills and fund transfer.

JNPT crosses half million TEUs mark in container handling:

The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) here on Monday crossed the half a million TEUs mark in container handling for the year 1997-98. The feat was achieved on the vessel mv Saudi Buriyad belonging to the National Shipping company of Saudi Arabia. Their local agents are DBC Freight International. Of the total five lakh TEUs handled at the port in the current fiscal, 27 per cent comprised Inland Container Depot (ICD) traffic, according to JNPT chairman and managing director R Vasudevan. In 1996-97, the port handled 4.23 lakh TEUS of which 24 per cent was from ICD traffic while the remaining came from the roads.

Usha Beltron bags contract in Thailand:

Usha Beltron Electronic and Software Technology has bagged a$120,000 contract in Thailand to develop a distributed service provisioning system for the Communication Authority of Thailand. The company is part of the $350-million Usha Martin group. The project, to be jointly developed with Siam Teltech Computers of Thailand, will be used as an interface for various networks with a call billing systems and will be connected to Siam Teltech's business operations support system.
