Centre to unveil tech-oriented eco-policy draft

OUR POLITICAL BUREAU
MUMBAI, April 13: The centre will shortly release a draft of the proposed comprehensive "technology-oriented" environment policy. The draft will cover environment-related issues such as reduction in industrial and vehicular pollution, increase in forest cover, launching river purification programmes on the lines of the Ganga Action Plan all over the country and making state pollution control boards strong enough to implement environment-protection measures.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Monday, visiting union minister for environment and forest Suresh Prabhu said that the National Agenda for Governance has already promised such a policy in the larger interest of the nation. "The policy will take care of use of special technologies within and outside the country for pollution control and environment conservation," he added.
