T&I Global may post 52 per cent increase in profits

Our Bureau
Calcutta, April 18: T&I Global Ltd is all set to post a 52 per cent increase in profits in 1997-98, according to company director Vijay Bagaria. Exports of the Calcutta-based tea machinery exporter and tea planter have also gone up by over 16 per cent to Rs 6.13 crore, Bagaria said at a press conference here on Friday. "We would like to cross Rs 10 crore this year," he added.

The company will be declaring a dividend this year after a gap of two years. "There will be a meeting of the board of directors within a month and a dividend will be proposed," executive director (finance) Abhay Mishra said.

T&I Global has a 40 per cent share of the international tea machinery market and sells its products to most of the tea producing nations. It is expecting to bag a Rs 12-crore project from Ethiopia soon, Bagaria said. China and South America are next on the list. "They are still continuing with old machinery and technology," Bagaria said.
