Air India saves Rs 15 crore in risk premium

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, April 19: Air India (AI) has effected major savings of about Rs 15 crore in insurance premium because of the excellent safety record of its aircraft, the airline said on Sunday. The aviation insurance policy for AI's aircraft was placed in the international re-insurance market for a one-year period from April 1.

The airline obtained a 43 per cent reduction on the current premium rates of the hull all risk, 33 per cent in aviation liability policy and a reduction of 65 per cent in the hull war rates. Besides, the overall combined single liability limit was raised from $ 1 billion to $ 1.5 billion at no additional cost. The combined effect of these reduced premium rates will result in saving of insurance premium expenditure to the extent of approximately Rs 15 crore, the airline said.
