Delhi, April 22: On discouraging advices from Maharashtra, Guajrat, Rajasthan etc producing states coupled with slack demand from vanaspati millers, edible oils prices started sliding down. Groundnut, mustard, sesame and cottonseed oils in edible section declined by Rs 30-100 a quintal and coconut oil Pariwar brand dipped by Rs 15 at Rs 795 a tin on Wednesday.On weak Mumbai advices, linseed and castor oils slumped by Rs 30-50 a quintal. Among oilseeds, old mustard laha was down by Rs 50 at Rs 1475 a quintal while on last Wednesday, it was quoted at Rs 1700 a quintal.
Mumbai: Groundnut oil ruled weak on the oil,oilseeds market here on Wednesday. Castorseed and its oil eased in the ready delivery while prices hardened in the forward market on continued short covering.
Groundnut oil edged down by Rs 2 at Rs 400 per 10 kg amidst thin demand and continued arrivals from southern India. In Rajkot it was quoted lower at Rs 600-605 per 15 kg.
Imported palm oil declined by Rs 6 at Rs 368 per 10 kgexclusive of tax on higher supplies followed by weak overseas advices. In the global market palm oil opened lower at $690 per tonne but bounced back before closing at $705 per tonne.
Castor oil closed a rupee lower at Rs 277/289 per 10 kg on sluggish overseas demand. Castorseed declined by Rs 4 at Rs 1228/1234 per quintal nominally in sympathy.
In the futures section castorseed June delivery commenced lower from Rs 1271.50 to Rs 1269.50 but later on finished firm at Rs 1276 on short covering,according to floor sources.
Gold sovereign steady
Both the precious metals, on the Delhi bullion market recorded gains on Wednesday.
New York silver future improved to 633 cents an ounce, consequently, spot silver .999 flared up by Rs 100 at Rs 8900 a kg. Arrival of imported silver on Tuesday declined . Wedding demand in silver was reported good. Silver weekly delivery, recorded a sharp spurt of Rs 85 at Rs 8830 a kg.
On firm overseas advices, gold biscuit and standard mint gold marked up by Rs 20-30at Rs 4250 and Rs 4270 per 10 gram respectively on zooming wedding demand. Gold sovereign remained unchanged at Rs 3500-3550 per 8 gram.
Mumbai: Gold and silver spurted on the bullion market on Wednesday.
Standard gold climbed up by Rs 40 at Rs 4,240 per 10 gm. Gold .22 carat up by Rs 35 at Rs 3,920 per 10 gm. in sympathy. Gold biscuit (116.50 gm.) shot up by Rs 500 at Rs 49,800 per piece.
Seasonal buying improved at the reduced level whsile eased supplies and higher global advices triggered rally in the prices. In the global market gold rose to $311.50-312 per an ounce.
Silver .999 hardned by Rs 90 at Rs 8,870 per kg. Silver .916 rose by Rs 75 at Rs 8,740s per kg. Fresh buying also attributed to the recovery in the prices while lack of ready stock and firm Delhi and overseas advices kept offerings at a low ebb.
Masoor shoots up
A mixed trend prevailed on the Delhi grains and pulses market on Wednesday.
Kabligram, on the local market, recorded a sharp spurt of Rs 50 at Rs1900-2300 a quintal due to decline in offerings from MP. Wedding demand in kabligram was reported strong.
Daily arrival of wheat was reported about 20,000 bags and prices remained unchanged due to weak demand. Delhi delivery rice permal wand deals for about 2500 bags were concluded by the exporters in Punjab and Haryana and at Rs 900-935 a quintal. Masoor and Malka masoor prices shot up by Rs 50-100 a quintal because of hoarding tendency.
Gur rules firm
Mill delivery sugar Mawana after a improvement was lower by Rs 10 at Rs 1460 a quintal while demand in sub-standard sugar was reported good from Bura-batasha units.
Mill delivery sugar Mawana was traded at Rs 1457, Modi at Rs 1395, Simbhauli at Rs 1390-1400 and tax-paid Khatauli was traded at Rs 1477 a quintal. Deals for about 15,000 bags were struck by local and UP parties. Gur peri ruled firm due to restricted supply.
Zeera crashes
On selling pressure, zeera prices on the local market crashed by Rs 100 a quintal.
Arrival of 37,000kgs. cardamom small was reported at Kumli auction centre of the South, prices slipped by Rs 10 per kg. and at Santhampara auction centre, 20,000 bags was offered for sale and prices slipped by Rs 5 a kg, consequently, cardamom small on the local market dipped by Rs 10 at Rs 225-640 a kg. while red mace marked up by Rs 20 at Rs 850 a kg. due to paucity of ready stock.
Among dry fruits, almond California and its kernel having touched a record level started sliding down.
Thymol down
Sodium hydro sulphite China declined by Re 1 at Rs 70 per kg. as the manufacturers reduced their prices and as the offtake was quiet poor. Thymol, on poor export demand marked lower by Rs 10 at Rs 350 per kg. Other chemicals were subdued.
Copper rod up further
Copper wire bar, rod and its wire edged up further by Rs 2-2.50 at Rs 126, Rs 130 and Rs 134 per kg on buoyant demand from consuming units while the inflow declined. Copper utensil, mixed scrap and accessories also marked up by 50 paise to Re 1 perkg.
Tin ingot, on stockists unloading, placed lower further by Rs 2 at Rs 330 per kg. Chadripital and brass sheet cutting also lost Rs 2 per kg. Brass accessories, Bharat scap, brass boring and zinc slab were easy.
