MUMBAI, April 29: Sun Pharmaceutical Industries has posted a 14.36 per cent rise in its net profit at Rs 56.12 crore for the year ended March 31, 1998, against Rs 49.07 crore the previous year. The board has proposed a dividend of Rs 6 per share. Total income for the year at Rs 281.72 crore is 47.5 per cent higher than the previous year's, while total domestic pharmaceutical sales at Rs 224.66 crore is 12 per cent higher. Total exports at Rs 37 crore jumped 84 per cent. Operating pharma profit was 36 per cent higher at Rs 59.24 crore compared with Rs 43.67 crore the previous year. Net-profit margin is lower at 21.01 per cent compared with 28.95 per cent.Total expenditure for the period was Rs 218.62 crore (Rs 136.35 crore). Depreciation and provision for tax were Rs 5.98 crore and Rs 1 crore respectively.
Net-interest income was Rs 1.60 crore, while miscellaneous income was Rs 65.36 crore. Annualised EPS was Rs 36.90, against Rs 33.16 a year ago. Figures for the current fiscal include those of Tamil NaduDadha Pharmaceuticals Ltd (TDPL), pursuant to its amalgamation with Sun Pharma.
TDPL's marketing divisions - TDPL and Globus - have now been integrated with Sun Pharma, with four new products being launched. Across all six Sun Pharma divisions, key new product launches include potassium-channel opener, Korandil, analgesic Pyrodex, anti-infective Dazolic and the hormone-replacement therapy, E2 gel.
