Foodworld plans new range of health food, beauty products
Anuradha Ramachandran
CHENNAI, April 29: Foodworld, the retailing arm of the RPG group, is planning to introduce a new range of health food and herbal beauty products range under a new brand name. The range which is to be called "Nature's Bounty", will be available in all the Foodworld outlets from May 5, just before the second anniversary of the supermarket chain. President Raghu Pillai said: "We had identified an inherent need for specialised health foods and herbal products, which were available only in select outlets in places like Mumbai and Delhi. There were no national or regional brands catering to the need of the market and since we had the shelf space, we decided to come out with a range of such products.""The procurement of the Nature's Bounty range will be done out of Delhi, with the packaging to be done by Foodworld." So why didn't the chain go in for their usual `Foodworld' brand name? Says Pillai, "We wanted this to be a separate range of specialised products and not just another of the grocery range that we haveunder the Foodworld brand name. So we decided to go in for a separate brand identity." The group has introduced 32 products including the likes of soya flour, amla powder, herbal shikakai, diabetic powders, spices, creams under the Nature's Bounty umbrella and is planning to extend the product range to 50 products. The brand will, of course, be unique to the store. Copyright © 1998 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
