  FIEO welcomes lower investment limit on SSIs
Federation of Indian Export Organisations president Ramu S. Deora has hailed prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's recent statement that the government would lower the investment limit on the small-scale sector from Rs 3 crore to Rs 1 crore and that easy flow of credit would be ensured.
  Alliance '95 pays a price for performance as corpus shrinks
Alliance '95 has been the top performing open-end fund across all categories in 1997-98. A balanced fund, Alliance '95 has appreciated by a mammoth 62.10 per cent during the year in comparison to 15.8 per cent gain in the Sensex. If Alliance '95 is excluded, the open-end balanced funds grew by an average 13.43 per cent.

Aluminium makers must get Modvat credit against CG imports for power units
Captive power units located outside an aluminum plant should be treated as an extension of the aluminum manufacturing capacity to enable aluminum producers to claim Modvat against capital goods imported for power units. This demand has been made by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) in its pre-budget memorandum.
