Aarti Drugs sales rise to Rs 124 crore: Aarti Drugs Ltd has registered a gross sales turnover of Rs 124 crore for the year ended March 31, 1998, registering a growth rate of Rs 25 per cent over the previous year. Net profit almost doubled to Rs 4.26 crore, from Rs 2.22 crore in the previous year. The company has declared a dividend of 11 per cent for the year 1997-98. This dividend is on the enhanced capital of Rs 13 crore after the company declared a 1:2 bonus issue in 1996. Exports for the year stood at Rs 56 crore, a jump of 33 per cent.NIIT unveils "NetCentric" solutions: NIIT Ltd has announced the launch of NetCentric Solutions Business (NSB) unit to strengthen its Internet, Intranet, and networking solutions business. Addressing a press conference in Bangalore on Thursday, Dhruva Nath, vice president, NIIT Ltd, said, "the company has executed Internet and Intranet projects for clients like prime minister's office in Singapore, Singapore Sports Council, NTT Corporation of Japan, BankBali of Indonesia, Siam Bank in Thailand, Kirloskar Brothers, and Apollo Tyres."
Camlin profit jumps 124% to Rs 2.33 cr: Camlin Ltd has reported a sharp increase of 124 per cent in net profit at Rs 2.33 crore for the year ended March 31, 1998 against Rs 1.04 crore recorded in the same period last year. The gross sales have gone up to Rs 136.12 crore against Rs 116.97 crore during the last year. Gross profit after tax but before depreciation and taxation stood at Rs 4.36 crore. The EPS stands at Rs 9.74.
Steelage net up 28 per cent: Steelage Industries Ltd, a Turner Morrison group company, has posted a 28 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 3.3 crore for the year ended March 1998. Its profit before tax rose to Rs 4.35 crore during the period. Revenues have gone up by 18.67 per cent to Rs 65.14 crore over the previous year. The EPS has gone up to Rs 10.55 per share.
Godrej & Boyce unveils fire alarm systems: Godrej & Boyce Mfg Co. Ltd has launched fire alarm systems in the Indianmarket. The Security Equipment Business Division (SEBD) of the company is servicing the Indian corporate and banking sectors including the RBI, State Bank of India, and foreign banks like Bank of Nepal and Bank of Bangladesh. According to SEBD vice-president DE Byramjee, Godrej has identified electronic securities business as a prime business area.
Panna diamond mine capacity to be expanded: National Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (NMDC) has chalked out plans to increase the capacity of Panna diamond mine from the present 31,000 carats to 84,000 carats in the next two years. NMDC said installation of heavy media separation plant changed the economics of the diamond mines in Madhya Pradesh as it resulted in significant increase in productivity and carrying on further the process of upgradation of technology would enable fulfilment of the targeted increase in production.
TI Cycles' new bike: TI Cycles of India, part of the Murugappa group, is launching the country's first five geared allterrain bike - Hercules Topgear. The bike, which is priced at Rs 2,595, is fitted with a state-of-the-art gear system, developed by one of the leaders in this technology -- Shimono of Japan. This system perfects effortless cycling according to the terrain. The company has signed a one-year advertising contract with cricketer Ajay Jadeja to endorse the product. The bike will be available in two colours, brilliant blue and pearlised silver.

IIHT in pact with UK firm: The Bangalore-based Indian Institute of Hardware Technology Ltd (IIHT) has roped in Santa Cruz Operation (SCO) of the UK for imparting training on Unix software by setting up its authorisededucation centre in the country. Announcing this here on Wednesday, N Keshava Raju, chief executive officer, IIHT Ltd, said, "there is a massive demand for Unix trained manpower in India as well as in all other major countries".
