The organisation of the Small Industries Service Institute was set up by the Government of India to develop and promote small scale industries through branches in every state. SISI in Maharashtra operates through its Mumbai chapter and has a full-fledged office at Nagpur and a branch office at Aurangabad. The Institute helps to formulate policy, monitor implementation of policies, coordinate and promote the development of the SSIs and provide different kinds of extension services to entrepreneurs ranging from providing consultancy to economic information, entrereneurial development programmes and marketing assistance.
